Arangetrams

Ankita, Shruti, JananiArangetram literally means "ascending the stage". It takes place after the student has completed the basic training in Bharatha Natyam, an Indian Classical Dance form. The student continues to pursue his/her study of dance after performing an Arangetram. This is only the beginning of the student’s in-depth journey in this graceful art form. On the day of the Arangetram, the student offers his/her knowledge at the feet of the Guru and Lord Nataraja to seek their blessings & presents traditional items for the friends, family and other learned audience.

On this auspicious day, the dance student ascends the stage with hopes to display his/her talent while growing closer to God.

Uma has prepared and conducted Arangetram for eleven of her students since her very first Arangetram experience in role of the "Guru" in the year 2006.
