Apsaras Arts Dance Group was established in Singapore by Srimathi Neila Sathyalingam in 1977. The Richmond branch was established by "Bharatha Kalai Mani" Uma Chetty in 2000, who is the director, teacher and choreographer of the group. Currently, the dance group has over 100 students divided into 4 groups: Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced and RAPAS ( Richmond Apsaras Post Arangetram Students). With Uma, there are 3 teachers: Mrs Meena Veerappan, Mrs Priti Patil, and Mrs Lakshmi Vadiiv. In all, 9 students have completed their arangetrams since the founding of the school in 2000. The dance group participates in many different fundraisers, cultural events, and community events.
